What’s in a Facade?
The word facade originally comes from the Italian word “facciata” and is pronounced “Fa’saad”. The term is frequently used to refer to the appearance of the front face of your home.
The facade plays an important role in setting the overall tone for the style and personality of the home and how it is viewed within the streetscape.
When it comes to choosing the elements that will make up your perfect façade, there are many things to consider such as your location, your style, tastes, budget and ensuring that your façade design is a cohesive reflection of the rest of your home design.
Your home façade design is made up of a look and style, materials, colours, features, lighting options and even landscaping, all which tie together to create a story about who you are and how you love to live.
Whilst we offer flexibility and adaptability with both our standard designs and our custom designs, there are a few things you should consider first when thinking about your facade.
- Are you in an estate that have specific guidelines? Make sure you know what they are so you don’t waste time brainstorming, only to realise that the styles you like are not permitted.
- Let’s ensure your facade remains timeless, by going with neutral colours and keeping the colour palette simple, less is more in this case. If a facade has too many features and colours which can look busy, will date quickly.
- When building a new family home, you should carefully distribute your set budget for the entire building project depending on your priorities. What would you rather invest in – a stunning exterior or a functional and comfortable interior? Can you afford both?
