Our Knock-Down Rebuild Process

Whether you are a first home buyer, upsizing to accommodate your growing family or downsizing to retire, building a home is one of the biggest and most exciting purchase decisions you can make in your lifetime. It’s not every day you get to experience the excitement of seeing your dream home come to life.

At Buildtech Homes we’re here to ensure you enjoy the experience, and are with you every step of the way.

We believe in being clear and transparent about the process ahead of you, and this guide will step you through every stage of the entire building process.


First point of contact

The first step towards getting started is a phone consultation to discuss your building requirements, here we will ask you a number of questions to determine what you require to build your dream home. If you have the plans for the existing dwelling that’s on the block, we will ask you to send these over for an assessment. If you don’t have access to the plans, we can help guide you in the direction of where to obtain them, or we may need to schedule a Site Assessment to determine the demolition needs involved.


Meet Luke the owner

Your next step will be to book in a sit-down consultation with Luke the owner of Buildtech Homes and our in-house Draftsperson who will be working side by side throughout the whole design period. This consists of a one-hour consultation where you will discuss your wish list, special requirements, block details and budget. Here we can help guide you on possible demolition costs to factor into the overall project too.

We have a range of house plans to get you started on your new dream home, however as every block and lifestyle is different, we can adapt one of our house plans or custom design something to suit your property and needs.


Concept proposal

This is when you choose one of our designs, modify one of our designs or come up with a custom design based on your wish list.

This Proposal will include an estimate based on your concept plans to build your new home, along with demolition and site costs. You will then be given access to view our initial estimate through our building portal – this will be your go to throughout your build to make changes, view or change inclusions and your direct link to the team working on your new home.


Preliminary building agreement

Once you decide to progress, we will begin any necessary assessments and reports.
Our talented drafting team will begin finalising your preliminary plans. You will have the opportunity to make any final changes to the plan. Once you have signed-off on the final floor plans, we will forward them to the applicable regulatory bodies such as BASIX, local water authority, mine subsidence board, estate developer approval, etc.

Once this is complete, we will present your tender to you and answer all your questions. We will take this opportunity to showcase your home design in 3D and walk you through a detailed tender, that lists all your inclusions. Following your approval at the tender presentation, we will invite you to place your deposit so we can progress to the pre-construction phase.


Congratulations on your contract

We will contact you to come in for a meeting to run through the contract. We will need each person listed on the contract to attend this appointment to sign the documentation.

Upon signing your building contract, you will be required to pay a balance of 5% of your total contract value.


Construction phase

This is where you see your new home come to life! Buildtech Homes can arrange the demolition of the existing dwelling, or you may have your own contacts you’d like to use. Either way, your Buildtech Homes team will be with you every step of the way. 

  • Your Construction Supervisor and Luke will meet with you for scheduled site meetings.
  • You’ll have exclusive access to the Buildtech Homes Customer Portal which provides you with regular updates and progress photographs of your build.



Handover delight

Once we are happy, Luke will walk you through your home and talk you through everything you need to know, handing over the keys to your dream home.


Peace of mind even after you’ve moved in

You can sleep easy knowing we’re still with you to offer ongoing support and advice throughout the warranty period once you have moved in. We provide a 3-month warranty and maintenance period so if you identify any issues that require to be addressed, we can attend to them quickly.
